PURPOSE:To obtain bright, high-contrast display by arranging a reflecting plate, whose lower part is transparent while the upper is white, over a guest-host type cell. CONSTITUTION:On the front surface of a guest-host type liquid crystal display plate 201, a plate consisting of a light-transmissive part 202 and a white reflecting plate 203 is arranged; and then light incident to the front is transmitted through the light-transmissive part 202 and light incident to the back is reflected by the white part 203, increasing light in a view direction. The angle of this plate is adjusted to maximize display effect according to external light conditions. Because th part 203 is white, a white plate 105 on the back of the liquid crystal display plate sets itself off. In addition, providing a polarizing plate on the front surface of this plate improves the contrast more. |
