Illuminated display panel - has switched background lighting for varying intensity or colour

The illuminated panel is formed by a number of plates of clear plastic, e.g. PVC or polymethacrylate that have alphanumeric or symbol information printed on the underside. The plates are located with a frame that can contain one or two fluorescent lighting tubes (3a,3b). The lighting tubes can be of different colours and can be switched between with a period of 0.2 to 20 seconds to create a blinking display effect. Alternatively the lamps may be supplied with two different voltage levels that are alternated by a switching system to produce different levels of illumination. ADVANTAGE - Provides multicolour or different intensity display effect.
