The present invention refers to apparatus for feeding air to an internal combustion engine, after combustion, characterized by comprising: an independent, supplementary valve (1) for each cylinder (26) in said engine, said valve (1) having a first, air-tight, closed position and a second open position in which said valve communicates said cylinder (26) with the atmosphere; and closing means (17) urging said valve (1) to said first closed position, said closing means (17) being responsive to the formation of vacuum inside said cylinder (26), after combustion, to open said valve and communicate said cylinder with the atmosphere.
