<p>A three dimensional display apparatus comprises a two dimensional display device (4) (e.g. a cathode ray tube) positioned in the focal plane of a lens (1) disposed behind a spatial light modulator (2) (e.g. a liquid crystal display). Different views of a subject are provided in time-multiplex manner on the spatial light modulator (2) but each view is visible only from a direction dependent on the position of a spot of light (7) emitted from the display device (2). The different views and the directions from which they are visible correspond to the different views of the subject which would be seen from those directions if it were truly three dimensional.</p> |
