PRODUCTION OF BLACKING MATERIAL AND APPLICATION THEREOF

A new blacking material can be produced by treating chitosan with the coloring matter of lithospermum root. In this treatment, a water-insoluble chitosan gives a particulate blacking material and a gel-form chitosan salt gives a gel-form blacking material, while a water-soluble chitosan, a chitosan oligosaccharide, D-glucosamine, or a salt thereof gives a liquid blacking material. A treatment of a powdery polymer with the blacking material gives a polymer-base blacking material and a treatment of a fiber with the blacking material gives a black fiber with low lightness.
