PURPOSE: To prevent a surface crust from being formed in welding a metal and a ceramic by adding a crust inhibiting element of small amount to an alloy for brazing Ag-Cu-Ti of the prescribed composition. CONSTITUTION: Sn, In of small quantity as elements to prevent the crust during the melting and cooling, and its mixture to a brazing alloy having the composition consisting of, by weight, 0.5-5% Ti, 0.1-approximately 2% Ag, and the balance Cu. As a result, no crust, i.e., a hardened layer is formed even when the brazing alloy is melted on a metal such as stainless steel and kovar (R), and then, cooled to the room temperature. In particular, the quality of the brazing can be improved when the brazing of a metal and a ceramic is requested. |
