<p>PURPOSE:To perfectly melt metal in a furnace just before tapping molten metal by arranging a torque detecting means of a trunnion shaft and a means for discriminating melting condition of the metal based on the result thereof in a refining furnace tilted at the time of tapping the molten metal with rotation of the trunnion shaft. CONSTITUTION:In the metal refining furnace 5 supported with the trunnion shafts 2 as rotatable at both sides and tilted with the rotation of the shaft 2 at the time of tapping the molten metal, the torque detecting means 7 composed of a strain gage for detecting the torque of the shaft 2 is arranged at one side of the shaft 2. Further, a detecting means 8 composed of a sensor for detecting speed of vibration generated in the furnace 5 is arranged at the other side of the shaft 2, and the discriminating means 9 for discriminating the melting condition of the metal with the detections of the means 7, 8, is arranged. The torque of the shaft 2 at the time of melting metal scrap in the furnace 5, is detected with the means 7, and when the torque becomes almost zero, the means 9 decides that of the metal scrap is perfectly melted in the furnace 5. By this method, the molten metal can be safely tapped.</p> |
