The stacking is carried out by a machine with a conveyor belt (1) for the bags feeding a stacking-table (2). A continuous conveyor (3) as a rotary, cylindrical cage, has a vacuum bar (18) fixed to it and so positioned that its longitudinal axis is at right angles to the direction of travel of the bags on the conveyor belt towards the stacking-table. The bags are removed from the stacking table and placed on a storage section to form a stack. A fan feeds a stream of air to the vacuum bar. The bags may be provided with an adhesive by an applicator. ADVANTAGE - High stacking rate and precise formation.
