A downward butn-type briquet is manufactured by mixing barium nitrate, potassium chlorate, potassium peroxide, sodium acetate, potassium dichromate, fine stone coal with small quantity of water in the top of the briquet to form a thin igniting layer, mixing small quantity of potassium dichromate with the stone coal in the bottom of the briquet, and moulding the mixed stone coal in the mould.
