An explosion-proof holder of protection type Ex e "enhanced safety" for double-pin socket fluorescent lamps contains a holder casing in which two bushes with spring-loaded contacts are provided for connection to lamp pins of the fluorescent lamp. In addition, there are electrical connection means for the bushes inside the casing. In order to make it possible to make do with fewer mechanical means when plugging the lamp into the holder or taking it out therefrom, each bush contains a plurality of spring-loaded contacts and the bushes are furthermore designed as plug sockets.
