<p>A key-manipulatable switch (20) for a motor vehicle ignition system having a housing (42) and a cylinder (44) mounted within the housing for rotational and axial movement with respect thereto includes cooperating components which prevent the rotation of the cylinder (44) counterclockwise from a first rotational position to a second rotational position unless the cylinder (44) is in a preselected axial position with respect to the housing (42) while permitting unrestricted clockwise rotation of the cylinder (44) to any of several rotational positions. In one embodiment, the cylinder (44) includes a spring-biased stop member (68) which cooperates with a lug-like projection (88) defined by the housing (42).</p> |
