<p>Method and apparatus for treatment of chronic arterial occlusion by combined transluminal angioplasty and topically enclosed thrombolytic enzyme (e.g. recombinant human type plasminogen activator) with the use of a multilumen catheter (4). The catheter has a pair of balloons (6, 8) spaced apart to define a treatment region therebetween, and the intermediate portion (10) of the catheter body defines a plurality of flushing ports (12) in the treatment region. Fibrinolytic agent, e.g. rt-PA, is delivered into the treatment region, and removed from the treatment region, through the flushing ports.</p> |
