By a pick-up device having pick-up elements, components are picked up one by one from tray packings, are moved together above supports and are then placed one by one on different supports. The supports are transported along a supply and discharge track. The tray packings are displaced through a supply and discharge mechanism to a presentation position and remain fixed in the presentation position during removal of the components. The invention provides a solution for placing components on a support, more particularly components of varying shapes and of comparatively large dimensions.
