<p>PURPOSE: To attempt to reduce power consumption by deenergizing at least one of laser beam source, scanning means, sensor means, and signal processing means for every scanning when at least one of incident laser beam and visual field gets out of a scanning field. CONSTITUTION: When an incident laser beam, visual field, or both get out of the scanning field in which a symbol desired to be read is positioned, at least one of a light source means, scanning means, sensor means, and signal processing means is deenergized. For example, when a shutter 20a is at a light shutting position at which a light generated by a diode 22a is shut, a light intercep-tor 22b detects that light is not present, and laser diodes 33 which are light sources in the head are successively turned on, and when the shutter is at a non-light shutting position apart from the optical path, the light interceptor 22b receives the light generated by the diode 22a, and these laser diodes 33 are successively turned off. With that, power consumption in the head can be minimized.</p> |
