PURPOSE:To space a platen and a thermal head from each other when the printer is not used and prevent the platen from being deformed, by providing a power switch operating mechanism which operates in conjunction with a thermal head retracting link mechanism simultaneously with a changing-over operation of a power source switch. CONSTITUTION:When a power source switch operating lever 28 is rotated clockwise with a rotary shaft 29 as a center by manually operating a knob member fixed to the outer end of the rotary shaft 29, an upper end part 28b of the lever 28 is spaced from the power source switch 27, thereby turning OFF the switch 27, and a tension coil spring 31 causes the upper end part 28b of the lever 28 to springingly push in a reciprocating member 26a of a solenoid 26 in the direction of an arrow D. By this, the thermal head 14 is spaced away from the platen 15 to a retracted position through a link mechanism consisting of a link member 22, a cam 23, a link member 24 and a supporting shaft 25. |
