PURPOSE:To prevent discoloration and degradation due to photooxidation or autooxidation of org. dye, to improve storage property and reliability of the optical recording medium and to prevent deterioration of the medium due to reproduced light by disposing oxygen barrier layers on the both sides of a recording layer. CONSTITUTION:The recording layer 2 and the oxygen barrier layer 3 are formed on the substrate 1. If the ratio of the coefficient of oxygen permeability in the transparent substrate 1 to its thickness is larger than a specified value, an oxygen barrier layer is formed on the substrate prior to forming the recording layer or on the other side of the substrate opposite to the recording layer. By this method, the recording layer containing org. dye is shielded from air. Thus, discoloration and degradation due to photooxidation or autooxidation of the dye can be prevented and the storage property and reliability of the medium is improved. |
