PURPOSE:To improve gloss head matching properties by providing a protective layer made of at least one type of silica and/or calcium carbonate having specific particle size and aqueous binder on a heat sensitive coloring layer containing leuco dye and developer on a support. CONSTITUTION:Leuco dye is used solely or in mixture of two or more types, and includes, for example, leuco compound of dye such as triphenylmethane, fluoran, etc. As developer, electron acceptive compound for coloring at the time of contact with the leuco dye such as phenol compound, thiophenol compound is employed. A protective layer made of at least one type of silica and/or calcium carbonate having 0.1mum or less of average particle size and aqueous binder is provided on the heat sensitive coloring layer. The aqueous binder includes, for example, polyvinyl alcohol, modified polyvinyl alcohol, etc. Thus, a heat sensitive recording material which has satisfactory head matching properties, image reliability, high printability, 50% or more of JIS surface glossiness is obtained. |
