Conductive textile sheet material consits of discontinuous metallised glass silk elementary filaments which are non-oriented and are consolidated by a chemical binder. The filaments are pref. metallised using an aluminium melt to give an aluminium layer of at least 3 microns thickness, the layer opt. coating half of each filament. The filaments pref. have a dia. of 13-30 (pref. 25) microns and a length of 25-100 (pref. 50) mm. USE/ADVANTAGE - The material is used for prodn. of conductive plastics (pref. thermosetting plastics) composite materials for electric, magnetic and electromagnetic screening and antistatic applications. The composites have electrical resistances of less than 1 x 10 power 8 ohm-cm.
