A flexible shock absorber(s) is constructed of elastomeric blocks which have a gas filled core. The blocks may be separated by innera plates which are parallel to the outer plates. Inner plates may have holes or perforations through them and can can be entirely surrounded by the polymeric blocks. A process is claimed for production of the blocks by injection moulding or casting of polyesterether or polyurethane elastomers. USE/ADVANTAGE - (S) is for use as a dock fender, in railway buffers or bump stops for cranes (S) has a wider spread of attainable mechanical properties, and a simple design and construction.
