The magnetic head includes a lower slider formed of a magnetic material and a winding core formed of a magnetic material. A substrate is formed of a non-magnetic material and is diposed so that one end face is positioned on an upper surface of the winding core. A main pole film is formed on one end face of the substrate. An upper slider is formed of a magnetic material, the upper slider being opposed to the lower slider through a vertical magnetic recording medium.
