In the case of sealing machines, the sealing element transfer devices are arranged so as to be stationary in relation to the sealing assemblies. A solution of this type can be seen as disadvantageous if special measures for handling the sealing assemblies are taken. According to the invention, a sealing machine is to be further developed in such a way that the sealing assemblies are completely freely accessible at least over part of their horizontal travelling plane and can be connected to or acted upon by additional devices, rinsing containers and the like from below. This object is achieved in that the sealing element transfer device is equipped, independently of the sealing assemblies, with its own displacement device which is arranged on the upper part of the sealing unit in a vertically displaceable fashion and in that the sealing element transfer unit can be moved from a normal transfer position to another treatment position opposite the sealing assemblies.
