PURPOSE:To simplify the device constitution by interlocking and driving a toner replenishing means and a toner carrying means when toner is replenished from a toner replenishing chamber to a developing chamber. CONSTITUTION:When a toner concentration detecting sensor detects that the concentration of toner contained in developer in the developing chamber drops, a driving gear 34 is driven, and a toner replenishing roll 42, a toner agitating member 39 and a toner carrying member 33 are rotated and driven through respective gears. Namely, simultaneous as the toner concentration detecting sensor detects a decrease in toner concentration in the developing chamber, toner is supplied from a toner containing vessel 26 to the toner replenishing chamber 38. Ultimately, a driving means 45 is made operable by a detecting signal from the toner concentration detecting sensor. Consequently, toner replenishment can be accomplished without using a toner exhaustion detecting sensor and a clutch, whereby the device constitution can be simplified and its cost can be reduced. |
