The automatic track finding (ATF) system has each channel read by a rotating drum head (1) coupled to a high frequency amplifier (2). The amplifier connects with a buffer amplifier (3), low pass filter (4), rectifier (5), maximum hold section (6), A/D converter (7) and register (11). The amplifier output is also received by a band pass filter (8), limiter (9) and control unit (10) coupled to additional registers (12,13). The register outputs are summed (14) to generate an input to a pulse width modulator (15). The modulator output controls the tracking error in the system. USE/ADVANTAGE - For digital tape recorder. Generates shift signal between channels to control head. |
