Switching piece for a vacuum switch, and a method for producing such a switching piece or a correspondingly procured component

The switching piece for the vacuum switch is formed from a contact support (1) made of a material such as copper having a good electrical heat-dissipation capability, on which an arc contact layer (2) is applied consisting of a material having a lower heat-dissipation capability, such as chromium or tungsten. The melting behaviour and vapour-sealing behaviour of such a switching piece are intended to be improved so that a vacuum switch constructed using it has a high dielectric strength after the current zero crossing. This aim is achieved in that the arc contact layer (2) has a thickness (D) in the case of which the melting depth during a switching process is reduced as a result of the increased heat dissipation through the contact support (1), and the cooling-down of the surface is accelerated with respect to a switching piece in the case of which the arc contact layer (2) is so thick that the contact support (1) has no significant influence on the melting depth and cooling-down of the arc contact layer (2). <IMAGE>
