Digital transmission of video-telephone and video signals

Both video and/or video-telephone (BiFe) signals with a bit rate of 139,264 Mbit per sec. according to CCITT are transmitted in a PCM quarternary system. The analog video, or BiFe signal is digitally coded to a rate of 135 Mbit per sec.. The transmit side has a multiplexer for bundling the coded video, or BiFe signal, a synchronising signal, signalling and narrow band signal to a multiplex signal with a bit rate of 139,264 Mbit per sec..The receive side has a demultiplexer for a treatment in reversed direction to form the individual signals. The multiplexer generated and by the demultiplexer received signal has a frame with 2176 time slots, each time slot consisting of 10 bits. Pref. the frame is divided into 32 lines and 68 columns, with each time slot marked by its line and column number respectively. The transmission takes place serially over lines
