Support body for a catalytic reactor for exhaust gas purification

The corrugated strips used previously for the coils of support bodies must be produced in a relatively complex manner in order to avoid adjacent layers slipping into each other. The radial permeability within the catalyst is restricted. It is proposed to allow the ridges stamped out from the strip plane of corrugated sheet metal strips to project out on both sides of the strip plane. By means of suitable measures a simple method can be created for coiling two such corrugated strips having a different ridge height and distribution to give an effective support body whose surfaces to be coated are large and which is inherently radially permeable.
