An automatically operating changeover valve for supplying a load continuously from two sources comprises a housing with a valve chamber and the valve element movable therein. The end faces of the valve chamber and the valve body are only partially conical and are designed as a sealing valve seat, while the remainder is a flat annular surface. The feed lines from the sources open into the conical region while the lines leading to the load open into the region of the annular surface. Vent lines with vent taper plugs operated by the valve element provide venting of the respective valve half.
