Light trunk piston for internal combustion engines

A trunk piston for internal combustion engines is intended to run as quietly as possible with the lowest possible weight and small dimensions. For this purpose the piston skirt, in an area of a plane extending through the pin and piston longitudinal axis and situated on the counter-pressure side, presents a greater ovality than in that area of the said plane situated on the pressure side. In particular it is proposed that the skirt area situated on the counter-pressure side be less spherical in design in its upper area, that adjacent to the lowest ring groove, than on that skirt area situated on the pressure side. In addition it is proposed that the skirt on the counter-pressure side area at its upper end be separated from the piston head by a horizontal slot.
