COMPOSITION OF CO-POLYMERIZABLE CAPROLACTAM

A compsn. suitable for admixing with a 3-12C lactam magnesium halide (LMH) catalyst to provide an admixt. which polymerises to form a nylon-6 block copolymer, comprises (A) epsilon-caprolactam; (B) an initiator (or its precursor) being capped with at least one activated gp. capable of initiatinq epsilon-caprolactam polymerisation in the presence of the catalyst and providinq elastomeric segments to the nylon-6- block copolymer when it is incorporated in it; and (C) 2- oxo-1-pyrrolidinyl gps. (OPG) present in the compsn. as 2- pyrrolidinone or as the activated gps. of the initiator, the concn. of OPG being about 0.05-2 equivs. per equit. of (B). Also claimed is the prepn. of a nylon-6 block copolymer.
