Provided are dental plaque inhibitor compositions comprising a compound of the formula: wherein R1, R2 and R3 are the same or different and each is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The compositions inhibit the formation of dental plaque by inhibiting the transformation of sucrose into insoluble polysaccharides.
