PURPOSE:To obtain a soil treating agent, consisting of an aqueous solution containing a polymer prepared by introducing specific hydrophobic monomer units into a poly(meth)acrylic acid (salt) coexisting with a water-soluble polyvalent metal salt and capable of forming a water-impermeable layer having preventive effects on salt injuries, etc., in a small amount of the polymer. CONSTITUTION:The objective soil treating agent consisting of an aqueous solution containing (A) one or more polymers prepared by introducing (ii) hydrophobic monomer units expressed by formula I [R1 is H or methyl; R2 is -COOR3, -CN, formula II or -OR4 (R3 is alkyl, aryl or alkylaryl; R4 is alkyl)] into (i) poly(meth)acrylic acid or an alkaline (earth) metal salt, ammonium salt or a salt thereof with an organic base coexisting with (B) a water-soluble polyvalent metal salt (preferred examples of metallic ion; Mg<2+>, Ca<2+>, Cu<2+>, Zn<2+>, Fe<2+>, Fe<3+> or Al<3+>). |
