PRODUCTION OF CERAMIC SINTERED BODY

PURPOSE:To prevent the cracking of a molded body consisting of ceramic powder and an org. binder by embedding the molded body in powder and sintering it after press degreasing under special conditions. CONSTITUTION:Granules obtd. by spray-drying ceramic powder mixed with a sintering aid (e.g. SrO2) are agglomerated by isostatic pressing and crushed to obtain ceramic powder having a prescribed particle size. This powder is kneaded with an org. binder (e.g. polystyrene) and injection-molded. The resulting molded body is embedded in powder (e.g. alumina powder) having 50-150mum particle size and 100-200m<2>/g specific surface area and it is sintered after press dewaxing. During this press degreasing, pressure is reduced at <=20 atm/hr rate after 80wt.% degreasing rate is attained.
