Photographic silver halide recording material comprising a support, at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer, a protective layer and optionally other layers, at least one layer which is arranged closer to the support than the protective layer containing a compound which in the form of the free acid corresponds to the following formula <IMAGE> (I) wherein R1 denotes alkylene, arylene, aralkylene or cycloalkylene, L denotes the residue of a polyester diol having an average molecular weight of from 500 to 20,000, m denotes 0 to 1, n denotes 0 to 30, preferably 0 to 10 and m+n>/=1, is distinguished by improved properties, in particular an improved maximum density.
