PURPOSE:To obtain the connection characteristic being equal to that of an optical connector, and also, to switch the connection between arbitrary optical fibers by a large scale matrix by providing one ferrule positioning mechanism, and the other ferrule positioning mechanism for positioning a ferrule of the other optical fiber group on the other surface side of a connection switching plate. CONSTITUTION:The subject switch is provided with one ferrule positioning mechanism for moving a ferrule 13a of one optical fiber group in the line direction of a matrix and positioning it in an arbitrary abutting part, on one surface side of a connection switching plate 14. Also, the switch is constituted by providing the other ferrule positioning mechanism for moving a ferrule 13b of the other optical fiber group in the row direction of the matrix and positioning it in an arbitrary abutting part. In such a way, one piece of optical fiber of an arbitrary line and one piece of optical fiber of an arbitrary row are brought to connection switching without crossing each other. Therefore, the connection characteristic being equal to that of a connector is obtained, and also, the connection can be switched with high operability by a large scale matrix. |
