PURPOSE:To detect the length of an object to be measured accurately in each visual field, by eliminating the length of another plate material below in the visual field and the length between this plate material and the object to be measured to measure dimensions of this object in case that the end part of another plate material exists in the visual field. CONSTITUTION:Detection head 10 detects the light beam of light source 60 which passed through gap W1, and this detection signal is supplited to comparator 12. Width signal W1 is output by comparator 12 and is supplied to detecting circuit 13. The output of detecting circuit 13 is supplied to operating circuit 80 through counter 16. Width signal W2' corresponding to the length of the material other than object 30 to be measured in the visual field is supplied to operating circuit 80 also through the other detection head 30, comparator 22, detecting circuit 23, and counter 26. Operating circuit 80 calculates the width of object 30 and displays it on display circuit 100. |
