This invention relates to new hydroxylamine derivatives having a 5-lipoxygenase inhibitory activity and represented by the general formula ¢I! : ¢I! wherein R1 is aryl, aryloxy, arylthio, ar(lower}alkyl or ar(lower)alkoxy, R2 is acyl, A is hydroxy or protected hydroxy, X is -CH2-, -O- or -S-, and n is an integer of 0 to 2, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, to processes for the preparation thereof and to a phanmaceutical composition comprising the same.
