A method for the manufacture of the screen of a color cathode ray tube, more especially of the perforated mask type, in the course of which each luminophore, or some graphite, in solution with a photosensitive material adapted to cure after exposure to ultraviolet radiation, is applied to the internal surface of the panel of the tube, this solution is then removed from the edge of the panel with the aid of a wash liquid, then the screen surface (10) is exposed to the UV radiation at the sites where the luminophore or some graphite is placed and then the screen surface is cleaned in order to ensure that there is no luminophore or graphite at the sites submitted to the ultraviolet radiation, characterized in that the wash liquid (13) for the edge of the panel is opaque to ultraviolet radiation and/or constitutes a coloring material for the covering of the glass of the screen face so that the projection of the wash solution on the solution produces gaps which are clearly visible after development.</p>
