PURPOSE:To provide a thermal transfer recording medium capable of expressing gradations with excellent reproduction properties by applying a heat-fusible ink to a base so that the ink has minute recesses and protrusions at random in the coating thickness thereof and that the thickness of the recessed parts of the ink is not more than 50% based on the thickness of the protruding parts. CONSTITUTION:A heat-fusible ink is so applied that the ink has minute recesses and protrusions at random in the coating thickness thereof and that the thickness of the recessed parts of the applied ink is not more than 50% based on the thickness of the protruding parts of the ink and is not more than 5mum. A thermal transfer recording medium can be obtained which can give a sufficient transferred density, gives a small density jump from an intermediate- density region to a high-density region, and has favorable reproduction properties. |
