PURPOSE:To eliminate the breakdown of a panel seal part and to improve the durability by bringing an orienting film are a color filter side substrate into contact with each other not across an overcoat. CONSTITUTION:A color filter 2 is formed on a glass lower substrate 1 and thermosetting resin is printed thereupon and backed to form the overcoat 3, which covers the color filter 2. Then, the polyimide orienting film 4 is applied on the color filter side surface and baked. Then the sealant 5 made principally of thermosetting epoxy resin is printed at the peripheral part of the substrate in a specific shape and after spacers 6 are scattered over the entire surface, the glass upper substrate 11 is stuck and bonded by thermocompression. Thus, the orienting film 4 and the substrate on the side of the filter 2 are brought into direct contact with each other to obtain the structure of superior strength. |
