PURPOSE: To facilitate automatic assembling of an inflator apparatus inflating the air bag of an automobile by sealing the open end of a domed diffuser containing a propellant with a closure plate member, and locking the closure plate member by the roll molding of the peripheral edge section of the diffuser. CONSTITUTION: This inflator apparatus 10 is provided with a domed diffuser opened at one end, a closure plate member 15 sealing its open end and forming an inflator apparatus housing, an inflammable composition (propellant) 26 arranged in the housing, and a filter assembly 38 arranged on the outside of the propellant 26 in the housing and cooling and filtering the gas product generated by the combustion of the propellent 26 via a detonator 28. The diffuser 12 is constituted of a domed roof portion 20 and a skirt 14, and the closure plate member 15 coupled with the skirt 14 is locked by the roll molding of the edge section of the skirt 14 without welding after a locking ring 16 is coupled. |
