PURPOSE:To obtain the title substance inexpensively, which has an oil content of lower than a specific value and has high inhibitory effect of cholesterol increase without use of injurious treatment agent or medicines, by washing wheat bran with water and treating it with alcohol. CONSTITUTION:Wheat bran is combined with 5 to 20 fold amount of water, treated at 30 to 70 deg.C so that the content of dietary fibers exceeds 60%, and dehydrated with a centrifuge. Then, the residue is combined with 5 to 20 fold amount of ethanol, heated at about 30 to 70 deg.C so that the oil content becomes less than 1%, and centrifuged to remove the ethanol and its extract. The product is dried with a fluidized bed drier at 30 deg.C for 7 hours to give the subject inhibitory substance of serum cholesterol increase. |
