PURPOSE:To eliminate difference in bending strength by a method wherein both a first prepreg sheet and a second prepreg sheet are wound round a mandrel, which is directed parallel to the paralleling direction of the fibers of the first prepreg sheet, so as to form a tubular body when the forming of a composite tubular body, which consists of the first prepreg sheet made of thermosetting resin-impregnated carbon fibers and the second prepreg sheet made of glass fibers or the like, is intended and finally said thermosetting resin is set by heating. CONSTITUTION:The side edge 3 of a prepreg sheet 1, which is made by paralleling carbon fibers and, after that, impregnating with epoxy resin, the angle theta of inclination of the side edge 3 forming the joint 6 of which is made within the range of 25-70 deg. with respect to the paralleling direction of the fibers, and the side edge 4 of a glass prepreg sheet 2 made by impregnating a fabric, into which glass fibers are worked, with epoxy resin are abutted against each other so as to bond a tape 5 made of glass scrim sheet over both the sheets 1 and 2 in order to join them to each other. Next, both the sheets 1 and 2 are wound round a mandrel so as to be formed into a tubular body and at the same time the joint is made into a spiral structure which turns around the tubular body at least twice, for example, four times and finally thermoset by being subjected to thermosetting treatment in order to manufacture a composite tubular body. |
