<p>PURPOSE: To detect the passage of a coin by arranging a coin tube so that the light beam from a light source traverses the inside of the coin tube and is reflected by a reflector and is returned and is made incident on a photodetector. CONSTITUTION: Light from an infrared radiation diode 84 is collimated by a hole 88a, and a light beam L passes a hole 90a across a coin tube 64. The light beam L passes a hole 90a and is reflected by end faces 100 and 102 of a prism 94. The light beam L passes a hole 90b away from the prism 94 and traverses the coin tube again to go to a hole 88b and is made incident on a photo-diode 86. The existence of a loaded coin C in the upper part of the coin tube 64 is detected by a detector when the coin C correctly drops in the coin tube 64 to intercept the light beam L. Thus, the existence of coins C in coin passages 64, 66, and 68 is detected.</p> |
