PURPOSE: To provide a battery which efficiently performs at high Coulomb efficiency even at low electric current density by adding a specified concentration of tin to either an electrolytic liquid or an anode. CONSTITUTION: In an aluminum battery comprising a cathode, an aqueous alkaline electrolytic liquid, and an Al alloy anode containing a prescribed amount of Ca and to which no Ga is added, tin is added to either the electrolytic liquid or the anode: and practically, 0.001 0.01 mole concentration based on a tin acid salt is added to the electrolytic liquid or 0.005% of tin is added to Al as the anode. Consequently, hydrogen gas evolution, which becomes corrosive mist together with the alkaline electrolytic liquid at low electric current density, is remarkably suppressed and an aluminum battery performing at high Coulomb efficiency can be provided. |
