An aq. lubricant comprises (a) a bactericidal amt. of piperazine additive of formula (I), a reaction prod. of (I) with a C2-55 carboxylic acid, and (b) a lubricating oil distinct form (I). In (I), R10-R8 are each H or C1-18 alkyl; m is 2-5. Opt. carboxylic acid comprises oleic-, sebacic-, or 7-ethyloctadecanedioic acid. The lubricant further compises a mixed nonionic surface active emulsifier contg. an anionic surface active agent. Pref. (I) is N(hydroxymethyl) piperazine, N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-piperazine, or N(3-hydroxypropyl) piperazine. The lubricant has excellent rust proofness, emulsifiability and dissolvability.
