PURPOSE:To make possible simplification of a drive mechanism for recovery action and thereby make the subject device compact and reduce cost by providing a driving means to move a cap member backward with the movement of a carriage in a reverse direction and at the same time, suspend the action of a suction section. CONSTITUTION:After suspension of the movement of a carriage 2, ink is sucked from a discharge aperture by a suction means not illustrated to execute recovery action. If the recovery action is completed, the carriage 2 moves in the direction of a recording section (right direction). In this case, a cap member 8 is combined together with the carriage 2 while the position of the cap member is controlled by a stopper 9a, and moves, running a guide pin 12 to run along a groove 11a. The action of the cap member is due to the energization of a cap support 9 in the return direction of the carriage 2 by an energizing means not illustrated. The cap member is separated from a discharge section only by the movement of the guide pin 12 in the inclined section of the groove 11a, and finally is returned to its original condition. |
