Device for measuring distance and speed

To measure distance and speed in rail vehicles a device is specified which exhibits a fast distance pulse transmitter coupled to the vehicle motor, the distance pulse spacings of which are measured by means of a fast measuring clock. The measuring clock pulses are alternately supplied to two interdependent counters. The counts of the two counters are evaluated for determining the speed and the sequence of the counter switch-overs is evaluated for determining the distance, by means of a computer. To compensate for measuring errors due to wheel wear, the primary fast distance pulse sequence is divided down by means of a divider with variable divider ratio. <IMAGE>
