A guide device for powered hand tools, in particular milling machines, workpieces or the like is proposed, having a compound rest, which consists of a slide guided displaceably along a, for example, approximately horizontal guiderail and of a carriage contained in the slide. The carriage is guided in the slide so as to be displaceable transversely to the latter, it being possible for a powered hand tool, a workpiece or the like to be exchangeably fastened to the carriage. A control device, which is designed for example as a copying control and has a follower cam which can be detachably and adjustably fixed to the slide and follows a control profile, capable of being fixed to a mounting, for the copying control, can act upon the carriage.
