In order to obtain an easily adjustable arrangement, which can be designed as a disposable unit and can also be used at the site of an accident, for drainage of the thorax, which comprises a surge chamber connected to a vacuum source and having a first connection for a vacuum pump and a second connection, provided with a submerged pipe, for a secretion vessel, and a secretion vessel connected by an elastic hose to the surge chamber, as well as elastic hose pipes that can be connected to the thorax on one end and to a vacuum source on the other end and lead to the secretion vessel and to the surge chamber, the surge chamber is provided with a vacuum regulator which comprises a calibrated rising pipe which is open at both ends and is immersed in the surge chamber and whose height can be adjusted in a vacuum-tight manner. <IMAGE>
