Device for sterilizing liquids, in particular water, by irradiation with ultra-violet light. The UV sterilization device for liquids or gases consists of a UV radiator and a reflector which focuses the rays on the medium to be irradiated. The reflector (4) is a hollow cylinder of elliptical cross-section and the UV radiator (1) arranged on one focal axis of the reflector (4). The medium (3) to be sterilized flows through a tube (2) permeable to UV rays arranged on the other focal axis of the reflector (4).
